Still, a very intriguing story that I would recommend to even casual sci-fi fans. It dragged in spots, but at nearly 900 pages, that is no surprise. ' Tough to live up to the hype, of course, but I enjoyed Dune overall.

But, I think I like the extended version of the David Lynch movie better. Years later I revisited it, and I did enjoy it. I never made it much further than 100 pages into it. ' I tried reading this book a few times after seeing the David Lynch movie when it came out in the 1980's. If you are a Tolkien fan, or a fan of convincing, detailed, fictional worlds I can almost guarantee that the religion and science of this book will hook you. ' A fantastic sci-fi novel with enticing characters and a tension-filled plot that will urge you to keep reading. You'll thank yourself but more than that.you'll utter a silent 'thank you' to the late great Frank Herbert. Until then, if you haven't read this, take the time and do it.
